Client Success Story: James M Stockman Cancer Institute Ribbon Cutting

On July 26, 2017, the doors to the James M Stockman Cancer Institute officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the facility on Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, and Audio-Video Group coordinated the event’s rental needs. AVG put together an event package that included not only the A/V equipment, but also the tenting, power, lighting, staging, and many other rental components to create a complete event experience.

Tents and Staging

Several tents were set up outside of the new facility for the event. There was a ceremony tent for guest speakers, a reception tent to house the food, orchestra, and cocktail tables, and tents lining the walkway between the two. Inside the ceremony tent, AVG installed a 12’ x 16’ stage with a podium for the evening’s guest speakers. The stage helped to raise the speakers up a bit, making it easier for them to be seen, and heard, by all attendees.

Speakers

Outdoor events can be tricky. You never know what noises you’ll have to account for; things like wind, traffic, and local construction can all interfere with the event. AVG supplied a set of QSC KLA powered line array speakers, along with several sets of delay speakers to provide quality audio to every area. The speakers were installed inside the ceremony tent and the reception tent, so attendees were able to listen to FMH executives’ presentations in nearly every area of the event in an effort to combat any outside interference.

Microphones

Another way to help make sure everyone could hear what the speakers were saying was to use microphones. AVG used a microphone on the stage podium for guest speakers, as well as other handheld mics on standby as needed.

Event Coordination

Audio-Video Group worked closely with Grand Event Rentals to provide lighting, power, air conditioning, tenting, flooring, and a red carpet, along with the event’s audio needs and staging. With events of this scale, Audio-Video Group can be your main point of contact and provide coordination for the event, even working with local event companies.

Back in March 2016, Audio-Video Group supplied similar equipment for the project’s groundbreaking. It’s been an incredible experience being part of the building’s groundbreaking and ribbon cutting!
